Arise Askoy II & spirit of Brel

Unless you own a submarine, these rough & gloomy days you better stay ashore & leave the angry Sea to herself. However even reading there's always some fun stuff to be discovered. Two West Flemish chaps - Staf Wittevrongel from Blankenberge & Tjerk Pillen from Wenduine - initiated a project to recover the Askoy II which sunk 13 years ago near the Dargaville coast in New Zealand. What makes this project unique for us Europeans, Belgians, Flemish, Walloons, French, Dutch, English or whomever you feel like, is that the Askoy II belonged to the famous chansonnier Jacques Brel. What's truly amazing in this respect - at least I wasn't aware - is that technically & legally speaking, you still have a proper ship, as long you got a keel to show !!! For those who comprehend some Dutch, see attached article from "De Morgen" or http://lbwb.be/zeiljacht%20van%20JACQUES%20BREL.pdf & http://www.askoyii.be.

Il y a le temps qui attend
Et le temps qui espère
Il y a deux sortes de gens
Il y a les vivants
Et ceux qui sont en mer
