Since my father was a sailor, I drew lots of maritime sujects, however I never joined the "Zeevaartschool". Should I really have done this? Anyhow now I do a lot of sailing, which is double as fun !!!

Rudy Blockx (in memoriam)

Submitted by patho on Mon, 31/12/1979 - 23:00

Not such a special drawing, but Rudy was sometimes a kind of a wild & aggressive guy, with whom I fought a couple of times myself (naturally he again attempted to beat me up after viewing this drawing). On the tatami, I stayed doing calmer Ju Jutsu, while he changed to the Karate clubs. During his first year for bachelor in Engineering (when I moved from Antwerp to Brussels to study at the Free University of Brussels) I heared from friends that he got on pills due to stress, and finally commited suicide.

Our teacher on Catholic religion was a great fan of pope Johannes Paulus II, which inspired this drawing.

Flying Bats

Nature 2000 - a national green youth organisation for which I was a volunteer in Antwerp - owned a ancient military fortress which was used by thousands of bats during their Winter sleep. Our group stayed there a lot of nights taking care of the maintenance ... fun & creepy !!!

Arch of Noe

Noe was our teacher of technical drawing, which also lectured at another prestigious jesuit school. At one time he ask me to make a couple of drawings, which he re-used under his name in the other school for their brochures. When I found out via a friend at that other school, I took my due revenge with this drawing.

Last Generation

Last year of secondary school we organised a big gig in the center of Antwerp. After our year our small school closed due to re-organisations of the "Church Factory" (educational industrialization), hence the title of this party.
